Organic chemist
The textile industry contributes to up to 10% of global CO2 emissions. Renasens aims to change this by creating a future where textiles are recycled in a clean, closed loop.
About Us
Founded by scientist and entrepreneur Dr. Jade Bouledjouidja, Renasens has developed an innovative technology that transforms textile waste into new fibers. Our patent-pending technology uniquely recycles both pure and blended fibers like polycotton without sacrificing quality. Energy-efficient and cost-effective, it produces yarns with the same quality and feel as virgin textile, at same price, supporting a closed-loop textile system
We’re scaling our team and seeking an organic chemist with expertise in textile dyes and fiber chemistry to lead the research on dye extraction from blended textile waste. The goal is to pursue the development and scale-up of our innovative methods for removing different types of dyes (e.g., reactive, VAT, and disperse dyes) without compromising on the fiber quality. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of dye-fiber interactions and potential extraction or impregnation techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize dye extraction processes from textile waste.
- Study the chemical properties of various dyes and their attachment mechanisms to fibers.
- Characterize extracted dyes, additives, and textiles to ensure quality and sustainability.
- Explore innovative techniques, such as supercritical fluid extraction, for efficient dye removal and reuse.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate findings into textile recycling solutions.
We are looking for the following qualifications:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science with a focus on dyes and textiles.
- Strong understanding of textile dyeing processes, dye-fiber interactions, and extraction techniques.
- Experience with analytical methods for dye and textile characterization (e.g., spectroscopy, chromatography).
- Knowledge of supercritical fluid technology is a plus.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to work in an R&D environment.
- Very driven with high standards and work ethics.
- Great communication (fluent in English).
- Wanting to make an impact in a smaller team with big vision.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to,Stockholm, Sweden.
